Beginning in 1987, my annual visits to Cemtral Kalimantan were mainly to Camp Leakey in the Tanjung Puting National Park, and to the Orangutan Care Center & Quarantine in the village of Pasir Panjang, with occasional trips to other parts of the province. However, they all started with the town of Pangkalan Bun, my port of entry.
