I went to Flores twlce: in 1986 I attended a wedding, and witnessed the festivities occasioned by the installation of a newly ordained priest from one of the villages
of the island, whose people are predominantly Roman Catholic; the second time,
in 1993, I visited one of the villages, and the volcano Kelimutu.
