The Akmad Family
AKMAD is the dominant female of Camp Leakey, dominant by reason
of seniority, having been brought there as as ex-captive in 1971.
She has mothered six infants: Carey, whom she adopted,
and who returned to the forest; Arnold, long deceased;
and Aldona, Anthrax, Aria, and, her latest, Atlas.
